The Lake Mills girls' golf team traveled to Highland Golf Course in Mason City to compete in the first round of regional golf play on Friday, May 18.The team shot a 445 and finished fifth as a team.
The Forest City Indians claimed the top spot in the boys’ Sectional golf meet at Clarmond Country Club on Wednesday, May 13, to earn a spot in the District round.
The Indians placed first among eight teams with a team score of 330, as they led second-place Emmetsburg with 334 and Estherville Lincoln Central in third with 345.
The Lake Mills boys’ golf team traveled to Jackson Heights Golf Course for the first round of tournament play on Wednesday, May 13. Turkey Valley hosted the Sectional meet.
Central Springs offered one last night of small stakes competition for area track & field teams on Monday, May 11 at the Panther Relays. It marked the final meet of the season before the State Qualifier events for both North Iowa and Forest City.
The dancers of Forest City Just For Kix delivered unforgettable performances at the 2026 Together We Dance Nationals held April 29 through May 3 in Rochester, MN. The annual event brought together thousands of dancers and families from across the country for one of the largest dance competitions in the Midwest.
The Forest City golf teams each took part in multiple meets last week, with a busy schedule to finish out their regular seasons.
On Monday, May 4, the boys golfed at Gruis Recreation Area, where they took on North Union and North Iowa and came away with a win. The Indians led in the team standings with a score of 155, followed by North Union with 169 and North Iowa with 182.

The Forest City boys’ track & field team claimed victory at the Don Hoppel Co-ed Relays in Garner on Monday, May 4, where they prevailed among eight teams.
The Lake Mills golf teams had a strong showing against conference opponents Garner Hayfield-Ventura and West Hancock on May 4 at the Garner Golf and Country Club. The Bulldogs battled cold temperatures and windy conditions but played well.
The Forest City girls’ track & field team hosted their annual home meet in Forest City during a cold and blustery night on Tuesday, Apr. 28. The Indians came away with a second place finish at the meet, which also featured the Bulldogs from Lake Mills and the Lady Bison from North Iowa.
Lauren Hillesland is the first runner in 44 years to break North Iowa High School’s record in the 1500-meter run. She cut more than a second off the 1982 record set by Kris Grimes to earn her own spot in the record books during the Warrior Relays in Armstrong last Thursday, Apr. 30. Hillesland clocked in at just over the five-minute mark at 5:00.21, to beat the old record of 5:01.4.
It was another cool night for track but with somewhat better conditions last Friday, May 1 at the Jim Basye Coed Relays in Hampton. Both Forest City and Lake Mills sent squads to compete in a large field, with 14 girls’ teams and 11 boys’ teams.
