North Iowa boys wrap up their summer in district loss

The North Iowa Bison had a full schedule in what would prove to be the final week of their baseball season last week. The boys hosted Bishop Garrigan on Monday, June 29, in a preview of their first-round district game. The Golden Bears gave up just one hit while amassing 16 of their own, as they defeated the Bison 18-0 in four innings.

Lake Mills girls split last two conference games

The Bulldog softball team played their final road game of the Top of Iowa Conference season on Monday, June 29 for their rematch with North Union. The Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and built from there – propelled on by two home runs. The Bulldogs scored a single run in the fourth but couldn’t stay competitive in a 9-1, five-inning loss.

Bulldogs drop two conference games but top Northwood-Kensett

The Lake Mills baseball team is in the final stretch of their regular summer season, and the boys hit the road on Wednesday, June 24 for a rematch with Eagle Grove. After beating the Eagles 11-8 at the beginning of June, the Eagles got their revenge this time around on their home diamond, dropping Lake Mills 11-1.

Indian girls play busy week with six games

The Forest City softball team opened a busy week with a big win over North Iowa on Monday, June 22 while hosting in Forest City. The Indians scored 19 runs in the first three innings, including nine runs in the second, as they put the game away in four, 19-1.

North Iowa girls fall to Forest City and West Hancock

The Lady Bison softball team trailed against one of the best teams in the Top of Iowa Conference on Monday, June 22, with a 19-1 loss versus the Indians in Forest City. North Iowa opened with a run in the top of the first, but the Indians responded with six runs in the first, nine in the second, and four in the third, as they put the Lady Bison away in four innings.

Lake Mills girls go 1-2 with win during senior night

The Bulldog softball team continued their second round of conference action on Wednesday, June 24, when the girls traveled to Eagle Grove to play the Eagles. Lake Mills was first on the board with a run in the second inning, but the Eagles answered with six runs of their own in the bottom half.

Indian boys notch three more wins

The Forest City Indians improved to 12-1 in the conference and 15-4 overall last week, with three more wins on the baseball diamond. The Indians hosted North Iowa on Monday, June 22 and shut out the Bison with a 10-0 win in six innings.

Bison pick up second conference win

The North Iowa baseball team took on a tough challenge to start their week of Top of Iowa Conference action on Monday, June 22, as they faced TIC-West leaders Forest City on the road. The Indians didn’t go easy on the Bison and held them to three hits with zero runs on the night.

Bulldogs play perfect week to improve to 10-5

The Lake Mills Bulldogs are on a hot streak, as the baseball team racked up four wins in a row over the past week. The boys kicked things off by hosting West Hancock on Monday, June 15. It was a very even game throughout, but the Bulldogs pulled ahead in the bottom of the sixth, where they scored three runs.

Forest City softball team splits games 2-2

The Forest City Indians picked up two wins and two losses in softball action last week, and they started things off with a tight game at Eagle Grove on Monday, June 15. The Indians played catchup for most of the night, after taking a brief 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning.

Bison double their wins in 2-2 week

The North Iowa Bison opened the second half of their conference baseball season on Monday, June 15, when they played the GHV Cardinals at Garner. The Cardinals outhit the Bison 8-3 and led in a similar fashion to the teams’ first meetup in May, with GHV winning 11-1. The Cardinals once again had a big eight-run inning for their second win over North Iowa, as they balanced their season record, 7-7.

The Lake Mills softball team pulled off a comeback when the girls hosted West Hancock on Monday, June 15, to mark their second win of the season.

Indians hit a snag but remain conference leaders

The Forest City baseball team opened another week with another convincing conference victory on Monday, June 15, when the boys won at Eagle Grove. Both teams got off to a slow start, but the Indians scored their first two runs in the third and built a 5-1 lead by the fourth inning. Forest City saved their biggest inning for the last, as they scored four more in the seventh and closed out the game ahead 11-4.

Lady Bison fall to three softball teams

The North Iowa Lady Bison had another challenging week, with one close game on the softball diamond during the third week of June.

The girls traveled to Garner to take on GHV on Monday, June 15, where they scored a couple of runs but got buried by the Cardinals in four innings, losing 12-2.

North Iowa girls win at West Bend, trail in conference games

The North Iowa Lady Bison faced another tough round of Top of Iowa teams last week, beginning with an away game at Algona against Bishop Garrigan. The Golden Bears outhit the Lady Bison 9-5 and built a 10-run advantage to close the game out in four innings, 12-2.

Bulldog baseball team has mixed week with close games

The Lake Mills Bulldogs escaped with a narrow win as the boys opened their week on the baseball diamond by hosting North Union last Monday, June 8. The close match came down to the seventh inning, where the Warriors scored three runs to take a 10-8 advantage with the Bulldogs only having one more opportunity to score.
