The Winnebago County Community Foundation has released its 2025 Impact Report, highlighting the generosity, partnerships, and community investments that continue to strengthen Winnebago County.

Winnebago/Hancock Pheasants Forever will host an Outdoor Youth Day on Saturday, June 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the Hanson Nature Center. 

This free event is open to all ages, and lunch will be provided. Youth must be accompanied by an adult.

Hello from Timely Mission! We enjoyed another full week.

We spent time outdoors repotting flowers, testing our knowledge with trivia questions, and enjoying root beer floats while reading and visiting with one another. The week wrapped up with grilled hamburgers, Wii bowling, and an afternoon happy hour.

The Lakota Public Library has a busy month planned for its Summer Reading Program, and grades Pre-K through sixth grade are invited to register. All events are free and run from 1:30-3:00 p.m. on each date.

North Iowa Area Community College awarded approximately 1,270 degrees, diplomas, and certificates for the 2025-2026 academic year during graduation ceremonies on Friday, May 1.

The Winnebago County Board of Supervisors set June 30 as the public hearing date for an ordinance for appointed attorney fees and a July 14 hearing date on a county nuisance ordinance.

The hearings will be held at 9:15 a.m. and 9 a.m., respectively.

Auditor Karla Weiss told the Board how the appointed attorney fees are calculated.

Area youth ages 8-17 will have a chance to take to the skies at the Mason City Airport on the morning of Saturday, June 20, as part of a Young Eagles flight rally.   

Morningside University proudly celebrates the remarkable achievements of its Class of 2026 Spring graduates. These students have displayed exceptional dedication and academic excellence, earning general honors for their outstanding performance during their undergraduate studies. 

Rebecca Hofmann, a student at Northwestern College in Orange City, earned a spot on the Academic Dean’s List for the spring 2026 semester.

The Iowa State University Northern Research and Demonstration Farm will host a summer field day on Thursday, June 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the north farm, located at 310 S. Main St., Kanawha.

The field day will begin with comments from Greg Guenther, president of the North Central Iowa Research Association, and Matt Schnabel, farm superintendent.

LifeServe Blood Center will conduct a blood drive at First Baptist Church in Forest City on Thursday, June 11 from 1-6 p.m., as part of Blood Donor Days. This month-long celebration in June will feature special prizes and giveaways from LifeServe.

Hello from Timely Mission! We had a very busy week. The residents enjoyed quite a few days outside.

Monica did some short story readings, and we had some trivia questions. We took the men out fishing over to Smith Lake on Tuesday. The weather was very nice, but that didn't seem to matter to the fish, because we didn't have much luck, but we enjoyed getting out!

Kids from Cub Scout Pack #445 collected donations at Buffalo Center businesses from May 18-26 to support the annual Poppy Days, which are sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary Unit #21.
